Course Grading:
1. Continuous assessment
a. Requirements 50 Marks
i. The student should finish the minimum requirements of each
specialty; otherwise he/she will not be allowed to attend the
final written examinations.
ii. The minimum requirements are:
1. One immediate denture
2. One overdenture
3. Two complete denture cases: maxillary and mandibular
4. Three partial denture cases.
The above minimum requirement must be complete and
graded at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the final
written examinations.
b. Clinical examination 40 Marks.
i. Final clinical complete denture exam includes jaw relation
record and face bow transfer for managing complete denture
case.
ii. Final clinical removable partial denture exams includes a
preliminary impressions for a partial denture case (maxillary
and mandibular impression), pour casts, survey one cast and
describe a treatment plan for this cast in a work authorization
sheet. An oral discussion for this treatment plan will be held
by the evaluator.
2. Seminars: 70 Marks
a. 35 marks for covering a topic presentation (20 marks for the booklet
plus 15 marks for the seminar)
b. 35 marks for clinical case presented by the student for complete case
treated.
3. Midyear and Final written exams:
a. Midyear exam contains as part of 100 marks:
i. Part1: 20 best single answer MCQ’s [20 for Geriatric and 20
MCQ’s for Removable partial denture]
ii. Part 2: patient management problem solving (PMP), one PMP
for geriatric and one PMP for removable partial denture.
iii. Part 3: three objectives structured clinical exam (OSCM), in the
form of slides, radiographs on instruments and materials, each
capable being answered in 5 minutes. Three OSCE’s for
geriatric and three OSCE’s for removable partial denture.
b. Final written exams as a part of 420 marks;
i. Part 1: 20 MCQ’s for geriatric and 20 MCQ’s for removable
partial denture.
ii. Part 2: One PMP for geriatric and one PMP for removable
partial denture.
iii. Part 3: three clinical stations for geriatric and three clinical
stations for removable partial denture.
